Fairfield Central Medical Centre is a fantastic option for GP registrars. Dr Lee and Dr Tang are the supervisors who are very approachable and make time available to teach. The whole team including GPs, specialists, allied health and nurses are all friendly, open to questions and willing to help. The patient base is diverse and a variety of presentations makes it a great learning place. The practice manager is very supportive and the roster flexible. Overally, it is a great place for any GP.

The team is great and it's a well-structured facility. The supervisors and other doctors are very friendly and I felt very well support working there. I am also able to ask anyone any questions I had. There are normally two practice nurses available who are experienced and reliable. The practice has an in-house gastroenterologist and paediatrician, which is handy as they are open to discussing case studies. The practice manager has a way of making all the problems and any concerns go away. The pace is also very nice and the roster flexible. The practice provides for assistance tailored to everyone's individual needs and interests.

I enjoy working at Fairfield Central Medical Centre which is a large centre with very good facilities and services. The Centre excels with very well trained receptionists staff and very experienced skilled nurses available at all times.Dr Tang and Dr Lee are very professional and lovely doctors whom anyone would love to work with. They are unique at ensuring ethical, friendly, happy environment for anyone working here, with 'instant' ' easy fix' for any matter if and when arises. Fairfield Central Medical Centre sees a diverse range of patients from acute illnesses to chronic diseases. For the number of patients it sees, it is such an organised practice that things run smoothly, a major contributing factor to this are the highly professional practice managers, receptionists and nurses. I've started an extended skill term in women's health this year at Fairfield Central Medical Centre. Despite being a bulk billing medical centre, this practice is very well run and organised, operating on an appointment system basis. They have a well equipped treatment room with literally everything needed and four very skilled and friendly nurses. There are two supervisors at this practice, both very knowledgeable with years of experience and who are very supportive - asking me every day or so how I'm going and making sure everything is ok. I must admit, the orientation and time spent making me feel comfortable and well supported at this practice is the best I've had. Besides seeing a lot of women's health here, the practice is also very family orienated with paedatrics, chronic disease and refugee health (close to Villawood Detention Centre) other common presentations. I would recommend Fairfield Central Medical Centre to any registrar wishing to do a GP term here or extended skills in women's health, chronic disease or refugee health.

Working at Fairfield Central Medical Centre has been a wonderful experience. I've gained first hand experience at the ongoing management of a wide range of patients and variety of cases, including paediatrics, geriatrics, women's health, refugee health and chronic disease. The supervisors are highly experienced, supportive, and are very keen to teach. The practice is well managed and resourced with many experienced GP's, several practice nurses, very helpful receptionists, a blood collector and a very capable and proactive Practice Manager. Lunch times have been an enjoyable time with most of the doctors getting together and having a laugh. I would highly recommend this practise for any of the GP registrars because of its friendly and professional approach.

FCMC provides a congenial and friendly atmosphere for all patients and colleagues. The centre is bulk billing and appointment based. We see a wide variety of patients from different cultural backgrounds and also refugees with acute care matters as well as chronic management issues. The supervisors are very welcoming and extremely supportive. There are other experienced doctors and specialists on site that you can avail if you would like extra help. The timings are very flexible to suit your needs. The practice manager, reception staff and personnel are excellent and cooperative. The treatment room is well equipped so you can do quite a few procedures as you like. The experienced nurses are an additional bonus. In short, it will be a worthwhile experience.

Fairfield Central Medical Centre has been new to GP registrars this year, however I have been very happy with my placement. I have been completing GPT3 part-time and have found it to be a supportive environment from the GP supervisors, other GPs in the practice and the nursing and administrative staff. There is good flexibility for working hours. FCMC is a busy practice which serves a very diverse community in South West Sydney. It has been a very good working experience and I plan to stay here after completing my registrar training.

Tips And Support: How Do We Do It?
We'll support you through the process and provide active supervision during your training process. You will receive exposure to a broad clinical practice and diverse population.
We encourage all registrars to ask questions during their time at the practice. We are open to considering any special interests that you may have - for example, women's health, paediatrics, procedures etc. When you are first accepted as a registrar or medical student, our support team will arrange a suitable time to start preparations for your start. Whether it be several weeks, months or multiple registrar terms, our team is experience in integrating new arrivals to the current practice flow and systems.
Many of our registrars continue their training and work experience beyond their initial terms, as 6 months can often be too short a period to settle into a working rhythem.
Our medical centre has a practical and hands-on approach to training. After years of medical school training, we find that many registrars and doctors are keen to experience a broad range of clinical challenges that face day-to-day general practitioners.
